Recently, the Canon imagePROGRAF TX-4100 was pitched against HP’s mighty HP T1700dr to establish which was the most productive poster and banner solution.

Keypoint Intelligence tried their Test Target A1 poster in Fast mode. The TX took only 21.5 seconds to sucessfully complete the task, whereas the HP took a littler longer, coming in at 37 seconds.

In Standard mode, the Canon bested the HP again with a speed of 39 seconds vs the HP’s 1 minute and 8 seconds. The Canon print showed no banding, however the HP print showed some banding in the darker areas.

Finally, in High/Best mode the Canon streaked ahead of the HP machine. The TX produced a quality print performance of only 1 minute and 24 seconds, an astounding two minutes faster than the T1700’s 3 minutes and 33 seconds…

But what about banners?

Keypoint Intelligence used their famous 36” x 105” (4,995KB Pdf) in Fast mode. Although both printers managed to display a print preview in under 8 seconds, the Canon TX-4100 was the only printer to sucessfully process and print the file (3 minutes 30 seconds from preview to cut). The T1700dr failed to even process the file and so the printing didn’t
even start.

So there you have it! Great quality posters and banners at blistering speeds…Canon wins the Gold!
